What would you highlight about Capital Hostel

very nice only because its close

Place was good, in a non-touristy part of Lisbon which was nice, but easy to get pretty much anywhere, even on foot. Very authentic rather than touristy restaurants nearby. My son loved the euro kebabs downstairs, as did other travelers staying here :-)

Bathrooms could have been cleaner and the place was a bit cramped.

What would you highlight about Capital Hostel

The location (the hostel is 5 minutes walk to metro station).

Photos on the booking website are quite misleading. Me and my boyfriend were staying in a double bed room (in the 4th floor). The room was very small and there was no space to put your things (no night table, wardrobe, shelves ...). The locker on the door did not work properly, so the door was not shut as it is supposed to be. The kitchen and the bathroom were in the same floor. The bathroom was very small and hygene extremely poor. We had to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. The hostel has a good location near the city centre, but this also means that days and nights can be very noisy because of the traffic and other services.

Was cheap

Location is pretty far away. The shower/bathroom was broken. No staff available to check us out. Black mould in the bathroom. Bed didn't have the right sheets so mattress was exposed. Was cheap though.

What would you highlight about Capital Hostel

Now I know how it is inside a microwave

The best part of Capital Hostel is the location, very close to metros and buses, with a lot of restaurant options nearby, walking distances for great places in Lisbon

Unfortunately, the location was all. I got a private bedroom, but I had a lot of baggage and I had to climb up 5 floors with no help from the desk. The front door is never closed, the front desk is on the second floor, the building is shared with another hostel. The towels were stained with something, I did not have the courage to use it. The fridge had open bags of food, that food is probably there for more than months. A lot of people talking loud through the night at the weekends in some of the floors I could hear everything from my room. The room was extremely hot, coz is on the last floor of the building and was equipped only with a ventilator and it was kind of broke coz I could not move it well to direct correctly the airflow. The window has no shades to cover the light from entering. No safe box. They gave me a keychain with 3 keys, that was the number of doors that I had to open to get into my room. The internet was coming and going, most of the time was extremely slow.

If I will come back to Lisbon again I will stay here again.

I spent there only one night but I can't say bad word about this hostel. People were amazingly kind and helpful, whole hostel was very clean and comfortable

THIEVES!!!! DO NOT STAY

I CANNOT EMPHASISE how terrible these hostel owners are!!!! Nothing good!!!

They literally stole money from me and they are doing ZERO effort to pay me back!!! And booking.com doesn't do anything !!! Honestly! Do not pay for the key deposit because they never return it!!! I have tried to contact them but they won't pick up the phone or return my money. On top of that, my friend left her hair straightener and they won't even get in touch whether we can pay for the postage to get it back. Dirty, small hostel place.

What would you highlight about Capital Hostel

One of the cheapest hostels in Lisbon and I know why

• Spotless clean. • Hostel is surrounded by shops, almost next door is little supermarket and the owner of the pastry shop just down on the bottom of the building is happy and he love to do his job. (He will makes you smile)

• Same day we checked in, there was a police in the building (just floor or two above the actual hostel floor) investigating something. Dark stairs doesn't give safe feeling at all. • Door to the building is open 24/7. There is a lock (you will get a key) but nobody really use it, so anytime you come back this door will be open. First night me and my partner we been followed by a thief, and as soon we entered the building he put his head behind the door and was listening. Than after few seconds he enter the building as well and when he finds out that we are waiting behind the door, he kept walking to the first floor and then he stopped. In silence. We went upstairs and he start to walk back down, trying to speak Portuguese. We ignored him and went into hostel door. • Building is quite old so woodenstairs are a bit upright and if you have any disabilities, it may be challenging to get up. • Shared room is basically just a little room with two triple bed on each side. For a high person can be challenging to move into and out of bed. • Make sure you pick up the room (shared one) with window, otherwise you will be sleeping in the close hole with one little open space which lead into other room. This hole will be your only air in supplier, so if someone is going to close the window in the other room, there will be 12 people breathing the same air all night. Sounds like nice headache, right? Unless you keep your door open. • Receptionist with blond hair is friendly, but doesn't speak much English. So if you need any additional info about your surroundings, you may wait to talk to the owner or his colleague (daughter?). They both speak perfect English. And will help you with any issue. • Smoking area is on the street just down the stairs, which can be quite challenge full specially during the night period. There is a kitchen on the top floor, with little balcony, but for some reason (building is pretty old, so probably fire risk) is not allowed to smoke there.

What would you highlight about Capital Hostel

Location close to metro.

Because of 2h flight delay we had many problems. Despite of paying taxi, cus metro works till 1AM, we had to pay 20€ for late check in. But we were not guilty for that! I have to admit, that the lady on reception was very polite and nice.

Great area, park nearby and a Lot of grocery shops, metro station around the corner. Hostel was very clean. Good price.

Just one bathroom for entire floor, luckily the hostel wasn’t full at all. Quite noisy from the street, but it depends what room you got. But for that price very good.
